Hi I've worked in hand therapy for three months. Your symptoms are classic carpal tunnel, the nerves going to the hand go through a tunnel which can sometimes compress on them. One nerve goes down the ulnar border, the side your little finger is on, which affects the little finger and half of the ring finger closest to that side. I would suggest seeing your gp about hand therapy.
Often people with CTS require surgery to release/ decompress the nerves. Occupational therapists work with people who are having problems doing what they want to do and can work with you before and after surgery. They can give you exercises which help to relieve the pain and problems in order to get you back to playing guitar. These are called tendon glides. They can also give you different massages and wax bath treatment to ease pain and speed up healing.
They can also give or make you splint to help rest the wrist. Those splints with the metal bars in are used a lot, with the metal bar bent until it is flat, which can help reduce symptoms.
Treatments such as ultrasound can be very effective, I've seen it myself.
Sorry about all the info, thought it would be good to give you lots of info. See your gp, don't do anything without seeing them first incase you hurt yourself. They can refer you to occupational therap y hand therapy and you should be seen pretty quickly within a couple of weeks as carpal tunnel is usually seen as an urgent case. your gp may want you to see a consultant about surgery First though, but you'll be seeing an OT at some point, and they'll work with you until you can play again.
