Printed Silk Fabrics Sewing Tips: How to make toddler leggings?
Toddler leggings provide warmth and comfort without restricting movement as your toddler explores her world. Leggings are an inexpensive project for anyone with a sewing machine and can be made using your old knee socks or long sleeved sweaters. Choose your little girl's favorite patterns and colors for leggings she'll find irresistible.
1. Cut the feet off socks just above the heel using fabric scissors, to create two long tubes.
2. Cut the heels and toes off the feet to create two shorter tubes.
3. Fold the shorter tubes into themselves. Bring the rough edges together by pushing one end of the tube through the middle to meet the other end. This creates two tubes half the size of the originals with the right sides facing out on all sides.
4. Insert the cut-off ends of the long tubes into the shorter tubes so the rough edges line up. This will give you the original leg of the sock with a short cuff around the ankle and all the unfinished edges lined up in a ring around the bottom.
5. Sew a ¼-inch seam around the rough edges using a zigzag stitch or close running stitch.
6. Fold the short tubes down to hide the seams inside the leggings and create a small cuff.
