Real Life Princesses
In fairy tales young women marry the men of their dreams and become princesses and live happily ever after. In real life however, things aren't always so happy. While some real life women do become princesses and live happily ever after for some of these princesses life is anything but a fairy tale. Here are three real life princesses and what their lives were like.
Princess Grace
Grace Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up living a pretty ordinary life and at age 18 decided she wanted to become an actresses which she did, starring in several movies and plays in the late 1940s through the mid 1950s. She enjoyed her acting career and was considered a very good actress.
In 1955 she met Prince Rainier III who was the ruler of Monaco. For a while she and the Prince wrote letters to one another and later that same year he traveled to America and proposed. They were married in 1956. The couple had three children Prince Albert, and Princesses Caroline and Stephanie.
From all accounts Princess Grace's life was like a real fairy tale come true and she seemed happy with her new country and being a princesses and well loved by the people of Monaco who found her to be a very nice and sweet lady. She and the Prince lived many years together until September 1982 when she had a stroke while driving her car causing it to crash. Princess Grace died from the injuries she suffered in the car crash ending her fairy tale life. While many people mourned her death they also celebrated the happy life she had lived.
Princess Diana
Princess Diana is probably the most well known princess of all time. Born Lady Diana Spencer, Diana had royalty in her own background being able to claim she was a descendant of a couple of Kings. An extremely shy girl working as a preschool assistant when she met and married Prince Charles of England, everyone thought their marriage was indeed a fairy tale come true.
The couple had a grand wedding and the whole world seem to fall in love with the new princess. She and Prince Charles had two children William and Harry and then they were seen less and less together. Diana became interested in helping the less fortunate and spent a lot of time helping the homeless, children and people with AIDs while her husband seemed to have little interest in such causes.
In 1986 the couple divorced. Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997. For Diana the life of a princess was anything but a fairy tale.
Princess Letizia
Letizia Ortiz was a television newswoman when she was asked to report on a story about a wreck of an oil tanker. While working on the story she met Prince Felipe of Asturias (in Spain). The two of them fell in love and were married in 2004. They have two daughters the princesses Leonor and Sofia. She helps her husband with his work as prince and from all reports the couple is very happy.
Whether happy or sad, real princesses live real lives, work hard and have problems just like ordinary people. They really aren't so different from the rest of us.
