DSquared has made its name as a favourite with celebrities who flaunt its items at glitzy catwalk shows known for its impressive theatrics. The brothers were born in Canada but are of Italian descent, returning to the country of their ancestors to work for the famous Gianni Versace label, which is still displayed as an influence in many designs. Their first store was opened in Milan in 2007.
The brand received worldwide recognition for its cowboy inspired costumes in Madonna's ‘Don't Tell Me' video, which spurred on their popularity as a brand worth paying attention to. In 2008 Dean and Dan signed an agreement to design sunglasses with Marcolin, an Italian sunglasses manufacturer. The fact that the designers behind the DSquared brand are twins could have helped create more of an in sync team, sharing similar visions and producing a dynamic team that have taken the fashion industry by storm.
DSquared sunglasses definitely show Italian influence in their designs. Their intricate frames that sport extra gold filigree detailing, lightweight lenses and a palette of burgundy, gunmetal, walnut gold and bronze make them a creation straight from the fashion conscious heart of Italy.
DSquared's men's collection manages to combine masculinity with sophistication. Delicate frames with a sturdy look allow for sunglasses that pack a punch in both the style stakes and functionality department.
